About Us.
                                               Allies Mid Devon

started as a community group who wanted to see improvements in their local towns and villages, and who were interested in helping to make those changes happen. Since forming in 2016, we have been involved in many projects, including securing the replacement of two bus shelters in the Westexe area, ensuring a replacement bench was put in place along the Old Railway track in Moorhayes and funding the purchase of extra seating in People's Park and  Tiverton Cemetery. We have also been involved in the installation of extra rubbish / dog waste bins around the town. All our our projects have been suggested by members of the local community.

In 2020 we were recognised by the Charity Commission as a C.I.O. (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). Our stated aims are -
To promote the conservation, protection and enhancement of the built and natural environment.

To promote the conservation, preservation, protection, development and enhancement of features of historic, archaeological, cultural or public interest.

To advance the education of the public in the architecture, archaeology, natural history, history, culture and geography of Mid Devon.

Covid-19 - Since 2020 the ongoing global Covid 19 pandemic has had a major impact on everyone. As a small charity, this reduced our ability to raise funds, which in turn impacted on our projects. As a small team, we were able to adapt fast and we turned our support into helping out during the first lockdown. The team were involved in the printing out of over 6000 Covid support leaflets, and helped with the distribution in and around Tiverton.

As a team, we agreed that we would like to rededicate the restoration of the Ornamental Drinking Fountain to all the hard working, NHS Doctors, nurses, care workers and key workers, who worked throughout this difficult period in history.

We felt that this would be a positive move and make the work more relevant to current times.
